Roland JX3P List of Wishes

this is a list of wishes, we collected in the former wiki of this page.

Software

1. Sound generation

  1. Unison mode with slightly detuned DCOs (simple unisono without detuning is quite uninteresting with DCOs)
  2. Monophonic multimode (ok, I know, won't work due to missing Demux-capacity)
  3. Additional AD-Envelope with Attack fixed to 0 and variable Decay. Decay should not be killed by NoteOff.
  4. Additional LFO(s)
  5. selectionmatrix for additional Modulation sources (mentioned AD, addonLFOs)
  6. Other LFO speeds(higher and lower)
  7. LFO synced to Ext.Clock or MIDI-Clock respectively
  8. Extended modulation range of LFO amount to DCO (maybe exponential amount control, to keep the smaller values for vibrato under better control)
  9. [GB] Portamento (albeit with zipper noise no doubt).

2. Program Editing

  1. parameter editing should have two modes:
    1. value changes immediately to the value of the slider/PG200 (immediate mode)
    2. value changes when the slider has met the stored value for this parameter (pickup mode)
  2. real time editing of sound generation parameters by SysEx and NRPN

3. Sequencer e. a.

  1. Sequencer clock should be controlled by MIDI-Clock
  2. Sequencer should output MIDI-Note Events
  3. Second value for Sequencer
  4. Chord Trigger mode for Sequencer (Sequencer stores only triggers, which fire the last pressed chord)
  5. Additional Arpeggiator

4. General

  1. MIDI-Channel should be selectable
  2. [GB] MIDI split point so that upper or lower section (only) controlled by MIDI.
  3. [GB] Load/save patches and sequences over MIDI.
  4. [GB] Firmware update over MIDI.

Hardware

  • Separate noise to VCF should be routed over a VCA
  • DCO2 out should be able to modulate VCF-cutoff via a VCA (maybe envelope controlled)
